Annual Spring Fling: Highland Games Weekend
Nestled at the bottom of the mysterious Highlands of Northern Kentucky, there sits the Scottish Camp called Camp McMichaels. In this Scottish Camp, Plaid and Bagpipes are not only a fashion statement but also a lifestyle, so make sure to wear your Kilt and Lumberjack Shirts. We welcome you to once again join in the Great Tradition of the Sheltowee Chapter Spring Fling, on March 9th, 10th, & 11th, 2012. We encourage all lodge members to join us for this exciting weekend of fun, fellowship, and learning at Camp McMichael's in Union, Kentucky. You will receive not just food and a place to put your tent but also the OFFICIAL SPRING FLING T-SHIRT! This is a pay at the door event, but be sure to respond to the contact listed before March 2nd to guarantee your meals. You will be responsible for the cost of the shirt and meals if you fail to attend once registered.
This years events may include The Infamous Caber Toss, The Industrial Hammer Throw, The Weight Toss, The Sheaf Throw, Karaoke, Find the National Vice Chief, and any other test of Courage and Strength we can think of. Of course we will also have, what has become the World Famous & Legendary, ALE81 Drinking Contest. If that isn't incentive enough wait until you see a bunch of Arrowmen Singing there Hearts out while slamming cases of ALE81.
Watch a Real Life Emeril as Chef Clyde shows how Traditional Scottish Cuisine is served as he cooks Shepard's Pie, The Scot Brown, The Finnan Haddie Pie, Fish & Chips, and Banners & Mash. If you are lucky there still may be some left over Haggis from the Spring Fling Committee's pre-fling feast. Chef Clyde will, as always, be assisted by his World Class Black Apron Crew.
This weekend will also be a time for the Ceremony Team to shine as they do the first Ceremony of this very young season. In this weekend those eligible to earn their Brotherhood (which means you either went through your Ordeal in or Prior to May 2011) will be able too. As this is, the 1st Brotherhood Ceremony of the Year. If you have any questions about the meaning & purpose of all the parts, representatives for the Ceremony will be available to answer them. You may want to ask how to join a team with the great traditions of being awarded Section & National Titles.
So get the word out to all of your Order of the Arrow friends, active or inactive, and come on down to the Scottish Camp McMichaels for a weekend full of Fun, Service, and Fellowship. Remember to wear your best Kilt and Lumberjack shirt for a weekend of Painting The Camp Plaid for just $15. The cost will feed you for the weekend and also gets you a one of a kind Sheltowee Spring Fling 2012 t-shirt. If you wish to register or pre-order t-shirts you must register by filling out the Spring Fling Registration form Click Here to secure your place of Honor at the supper table.
